Dear Community,

Dental exams and dental cleanings are part of preventive care. Your oral health is essential to your overall health.

Dental practices have reopened safely and are seeing patients for emergency and preventive dental care visits. Many dental offices have implemented enhanced safety measures and are following recommended CDC guidelines. The dentist wants to make sure you have the best dental care, and your dental visit is safe for you and his staff. Be sure to call your dental provider to schedule a dental checkup for you and your family.

Please continue your daily dental care routine by brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing daily. Please relay that message, model the positive behavior, and/or assist grandparents and children with their daily dental care. If you need to see a dentist, please contact your local dental provider or call the OC Health Referral Line (1-800-564-8448). Thank you to everyone for keeping yourself and the community safe by adhering to state and local guidelines. Below are some COVID-19 related resources.

Warmest Regards,

OC Health Care Agency

COVID-19 Coronavirus Resources

Seeing the Dentist is SAFE

Seeing the dentist regularly is part of preventive dental care. Untreated dental problems, such as cavities and gum disease can become painful, costly, and affect your overall health.

Seeing the dentist is safe. Dental offices have implemented enhanced safety practices and are following CDC guidelines for providing dental care during the pandemic.

Preventive Dental Visits are Safe and Important for Children

Due to COVID-19, many families did not feel safe seeing the dentist, even as dental offices have reopened safely. Also, many of the schools that had a School Sealant Program had to close due to the pandemic.

The OC Local Oral Health Program (LOHP) has created four (4) Public Service Announcements (PSAs) for families with school age children. The PSAs have been developed to help families understand that it is safe to see a dentist and the importance of daily dental care among children. Please share the PSAs with the families you serve.
